Beautiful lovely Florence, oh what a CITY! This amazing village is filled with windy streets + beautiful details. If you have never been to Florence, I promise that you will not be disappointed adding it to your bucket list. This city screams romance!
I had such a lovely time with my friend Marissa roaming the city streets + it was simply delightful! I wanted to share a few of my top highlights from this amazing trip. In case you do visit Florence, here are my top MUST DO’s:
TRAVEL GUIDE | FLORENCE
Have dinner at Ciro & Sons– This restaurant is magical. It is owned by 3 sons of the man who started it AND it specializes in Gluten Free. I know , I know, this may seem like blasphemy for Italy, but celiac is real my friends + I happen to have a wheat intolerance [gasp]. Regardless, this place was delicious + the people were superb!
Take a Wine Tour in Tuscany– If you are in Florence, you absolutely, 110% MUST make your way out to the gorgeous green wine hills of Tuscany. I was able to go on the most educational, beautiful tour with Italy & Wine tour. I must admit, our tour guide Hilary was by far the BEST. She was energetic, funny, educational + so beyond accommodating. The tour would not have been the same without Hilary. You must request her if you go on this tour! Without a doubt, this entire day in Tuscany was one of the best days of my life!
Consume GELATO, a lot of gelato- You will do so much walking in Florence that you absolutely must consume as much sugary goodness as possible. EAT EAT EAT, + simply take in the beauty of the city [guilt-free, you’re in Italy after all!]
Eat at Zaza– Zaza is apparently filled with truffles. I have never personally eaten there but have heard incredible things about the buttery, delicious menu. This is a must try!
Visit Luisa Via Roma – This incredible luxury boutique is simply gorgeous to look at + has a very quirky, fun, interesting combination of fashion!
See the leather market- While I am personally not a fan of tourist traps, Florence does specialize in some of the BEST leather in Italy. You have to take a look at the leather market, or at least wander into some stores that offer amazing made in Florence leather!
Ride a Vespa– If there is one thing I know about Florence it is that it is a walking city. You either walk or ride a little vespa on the windy little streets. There are quite literally vespas on every corner! So why not act like a local + get your very own Vespa rental?
Visit the Ufizzi– The Ufizzi Gallery is one of my favorite museums in Italy. It is right in the center + honestly is just gorgeous inside.
See the Ponte Vecchio [day + night]– This bridge is spectacular, + is something you absolutely must see! Take a photo during the day + walk across. Then visit again at night for some beautiful scenery!
Hike to the Piazzale Michelangelo– This gorgeous viewpoint offers breath taking views of the entire city of Florence. The hike is worth it, + hey you can have a huge bowl of delicious pasta afterwards to reward yourself for all the walking!
Sit on the steps of the Duomo– The gorgeous multicolored Duomo in Florence is one of my favorite churches in Italy. It is break taking + honestly a bit mignon with all the fun colors!
There are countless other fun things to do in Florence, but my biggest advice would be to just wander the streets + have a grand time just exploring. It is the little things that make this city so magical, so enjoy every step!
