This Christmas, my mom + I decided to do our traditional Christmas morning breakfast… something SWEET! This year we came up with making traditional french toast from scratch. After all, who doesn’t love a few extra sweet carbs to round out 2014?
1 loaf fluffy Italian bread [must be very fluffy]
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups almond milk
First, cut the large loaf of bread into 1.5 inch pieces. and set all pieces aside.
In a small bowl, mix the eggs, cinnamon, vanilla extract and almond milk. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed.
Take a skillet and heat it on medium heat placing a small amount of butter onto the pan.
Next, take a slice of bread. Dip the bread entirely into the batter covering the bread slice completely. Place the slice of bread onto the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes on one side until it is lightly browned. Flip the piece over and brown the other side of the toast.
VOILA! Now you have a beautiful piece of french toast. Continue the same process for the other slices until all of the bread has been toasted.
Now, slice some strawberries or add some blueberries + maple syrup. I also added some yummy walnuts + powdered sugar to mine.
